“Poiché tutto è un riflesso della nostra mente, tutto può essere cambiato dalla nostra mente”
Con questa frase Buddha rivelava agli uomini la via per comprendere un’esistenza vissuta su due registri, quello reale e quello immaginato, individuando la fantasia come un bene rifugio capace di liberare il quotidiano dalla sua gravità. La pittura di Lise Stoufflet sembra prendere forma ed espandersi in questo limbo dove il concreto si alterna all’assurdo, il vero all’illusorio, un luogo dove ridefinire condotte umane, oggetti e relazioni.
L’artista narra, attraverso fermi-immagine, storie delle cui trame si intuiscono solo brandelli, sospendendo ogni racconto in un atmosfera onirica dove protagonisti e paesaggi si relazionano spesso attraverso il nonsense dei loro gesti. Atmosfere complesse che desiderano porre vivamente l’osservatore nelle vesti di un interprete emotivo, capace di completare autonomamente tali enigmi estetici; quello della Stoufflet è un registro figurativo vivido e al confine con l’illustrazione – chiarito talvolta anche dall’efflorescenza di oggetti reali che si stagliano dal quadro – una scelta tramite il quale veicolare inoltre sottili metafore e allusioni sulla società contemporanea.
Risolti tutti con nuance pastello, i colori utilizzati dall’artista sono parte indispensabile delle sue composizioni, un range cromatico “gentile” con il quale ammorbidire il senso di mistero e inquietudine che si cela dietro l’istante descritto. Un apparente surreale si combina ad una moltitudine di elementi significanti, tutto immerso in un’aura rassicurante e silenziosa.

With this phrase Buddha revealed to men the way to understand a life lived on two registers, the real one and the imagined one, identifying the fantasy as a safe haven able to free the everyday from its gravity. Lise Stoufflet's painting seems to take shape and expand into this limbo where the concrete alternates with the absurd, the true with the illusory; a place to redefine human behavior, objects and relationships.
The artist narrates, through still images, stories of which plots we can only perceive shreds, suspending each story in a dreamlike atmosphere where protagonists and landscapes often relate through the nonsense of their gestures. Complex atmospheres that desire to place the observer strongly in the guise of an emotional interpreter, able to complete these aesthetic enigmas independently; Stoufflet’s poetry uses a vivid figurative register bordering on illustration - sometimes clarified also by the efflorescence of real objects that stand out from the picture - a choice through which also convey subtle metaphors and allusions about contemporary society.
Everything is resolved with pastel nuances, the colors used by the artist are an indispensable part of her compositions, a “gentle” color range with which softening the sense of mystery and restlessness that lies behind the instant described. A surreal appearance combined with a multitude of significant elements, all immersed in a reassuring and silent aura.
